About the 2006 AACR Education Book

Garlick, is a part of the Educational Session on Mechanistic Studies of Tumorigenesis in Context and appears on page 403.]
The Education Committee developed 34 Educational Sessions and 6 Methods Workshops for the 2006 AACR Educational Program. Each of the 158 presenters in the educational program were invited to submit an original manuscript summarizing their field of interest for publication in the 2006 AACR Education Book. Session chairpersons were invited to submit Introductions to their sessions.
Of the 158 presenters, 76 submitted articles for publication in the following general format:
Background. A brief statement defining the topic and purpose of the speaker’s presentation, providing the context of the presentation in and its relevance to the field using a selective review of the literature.
Discussion. A description of the current state of the current state of the speaker’s field of interest, acknowledging controversies, unresolved questions, or recent developments related to the topic and providing data to support key points.
Future Directions. A brief outline of the speaker’s vision of the future of the field and identifying areas that merit further exploration.
References. Previous reviews were cited where appropriate to avoid an excessively long reference list.
